 Shortwave-World Band
Listen to: News—Sports—Commentary—Music
Hear the news being reported (in English or another language)
from countries all around the world. There is a lot going on in the world and
you need to know how you may be affected. Learn about other people’s customs and
politics. Travel without leaving home. Some popular USA stations include
WBCQ, WRNO, WWCR, WHRI, KNLS, etc.
Hear warnings, distress calls - Coordinate aid.
Tune in interesting talk shows. Hear important local news
which should be reported nationally but isn’t. Hear vital information during a
disaster.
Hear truths the regular media suppresses. There are many good programs on the environment, religion,
music, government, money, science, patriotism, education, new
inventions/discoveries. Tune to 5.000, 7.335, 10.000 or 15.000 MHZ for the
accurate time.
You may find yourself liking radio better than TV! Improve reception with long wire antenna. Shortwave radio
signals bounce off the upper atmosphere (ionosphere). Signal may fade in and
out. Some stations are easier to pickup during the evening and night, some are
better during daytime. A length of wire can be clipped to the antenna to greatly
improve reception.
Good Gift Idea Shortwave radio listening is a great hobby. Not only is it fun and practical,
it is low cost, very interesting with lots of variety. Everyone should have at
least one.

The Freeplay Eyemax Weather Band provides assured access to news, weather
information and illumination whenever and wherever you need it. The black
rubberized finish makes the Eyemax WB splash-proof, and the line-in and
cable allow you to use the Eyemax WB as a speaker system for your iPod/MP3
player. This robust and dependable radio, with integrated LED flashlight,
offers a choice of self-charge, solar and external recharge power options.
The Eyemax WB delivers complete independence from wall power or disposable
batteries, ensuring sustainable access to vital information and the peace of
mind that you’ll never be without power. Freeplay’s patented self-charge
technology means unparalleled playtime performance, and the compelling
design makes the Eyemax WB a great everyday radio, as well as the perfect
companion in emergencies. The Eyemax WB will play for approximately an hour
at normal volume per 1-minute wind, and can be rewound at any time for as
much playtime as you want. An LED charge level
indicator tells you the best speed to wind. In direct sunlight the Eyemax
will charge itself and play continuously – the internal Ni-MH battery can be
fully charged from both the solar panel and an external charging adapter.
The Eyemax will give 25 hours of playtime, depending on volume, when fully
charged and an earphone socket allows personal listening as required. The
Eyemax WB does not compromise on robustness and quality with mechanical
components made from superior materials, specified to industrial standards
for repeated use and long life. The 7 NOAA (USA) / MSC (Canadan) channels
have a separate tuning mechanism and are activated at the push of a button,
allowing you to switch quickly and easily between conventional programming
and important weather information without re-tuning. The Eyemax WB will
provide clean, dependable access to music, news, weather information and
illumination anytime, anywhere.
Benefits
 | Ideal as an everyday radio, iPod/MP3 player dock and an
essential part of any preparedness kit. Always ready to provide vital
information and illumination in any emergency. |
 | Black rubberized finish makes the Eyemax WB
splash-proof and comfortable to grip. |
 | Green energy - a sustainable product that’s built to
last. The power mechanism is tested to 500,000 input cycles, and the
internal batteries are tested up to 10,000 self-charge cycles – or over
5000 listening hours. |
 | The Eyemax offers a real alternative to grid
electricity or fossil fuels, so you can feel cleaner about your nature
experience. Never worry about buying, carrying or disposing of batteries
again. |
 | When your batteries run out and you need to wind for
power, the Freeplay self-charge mechanism converts over 74% of your
kinetic energy into stored electricity. |
 | Self-charge while playing anytime to top up the power –
never miss the end of that song, the end of the game or that last item in
the news report. |
 | The integrated LED is a vital source of light in
blackouts, or just when checking your alarm clock at your bedside in the
morning. |
 | Freeplay’s highly efficient and powerful self-charge
system provides a conditioning charge to the internal batteries – which
means that the Eyemax WB will always work, even after periods of long
storage when other battery operated products will fail. |

indicator tells you the best speed to wind.
In direct sunlight the Companion will charge itself and play continuously.
The internal NiMH battery can be fully charged from either the solar panel
or an external charging adapter (any standard mini-USB AC charger will do),
to give 12 hours of play time (depending on volume), or 16 hours of shine
time.
Designed as a companion for those who appreciate the security of a failsafe
radio and who value independence from conventional power sources, the
Companion is fun and convenient, anytime, anywhere.

Select-A-Tenna
Antenna Booster for AM Radio (not shortwave)
Simple to use - Portable - Made in USA, Will not help radios in a vehicle. |
Select-A-Tenna is the best AM signal enhancer made for radios, even
expensive radios.
Simply place Select-A-Tenna near your portable or clock radio to inductively
couple the unit to your radio. Tune in the radio station and then turn the knob
on Select-A-Tenna until you hear the station volume increase. AM radio talk
shows are very popular, but reception distance can be limited. The daytime range
can be doubled with Select-A-Tenna. Adjacent station rejection is also improved.
This helps when station signals are too strong.
No AC or DC power required on regular or M models. A +30 dB gain is typical. 535 to
1700 KHz frequency range. 10-3/4” x 2-1/4”.
A420
Regular
4 lbs $60
Special $46 |
 |
Model M
has the same features and
specifications but with a jack for connecting to external long wire antenna and ground wire.
This model is useful for conducting signals inside all-metal buildings,
basements, campers or trailer houses. The
jack also allows the unit to be directly connected to a radio's antenna and
ground terminals when the radio has no internal ferrite rod antenna.
10-3/4” x 2-1/4”.
A421
Model M 4 lbs
$70
Special $55 |
 |
Super Model is more powerful with a +40dB gain
(10 dB more than the other models). This model also works better on radios with poor
inductive coupling (such as the very popular model pictured) or for large case
radios. It has an internal regenerative amplifier with variable 0 to +10 dB
gain control knob. Requires a 9V battery (not
included). Has Coarse and Fine
Tuning controls for ease of operation at the higher gain settings. Includes a
small remote ferrite probe to place near radio when there's not enough room for
the Select-A-Tenna. 10-3/4” x 2-1/4”.
A422
Model S 5 lbs
$ 190 Special $179
The Model S may be used in any of four
different modes:
(1) Direct Near Proximity just like the regular and model M.
(2) Ferrite Probe Near Proximity.
(3) Direct Wired Antenna Connection.
(4) External Antenna and Ground for metal-buildings when using modes 1 and 2. |
 |
| The Model S has a
high-signal level and low-impedance balanced drive port for the ferrite probe.
This provides the capability to not only drive the 6 ft. coaxial cable and
probe, which are included, but the cable may be extended to as much as 26 ft
using extension cables readily available locally. This is very useful for
remotely locating the Model S away from radio noise sources or into better signal
locations, when moving the radio itself may be inconvenient. |
