Check out the Universe.

It is HUGE and full of mysteries. See with your own eyes the wonders of the Sun, Moon, Planets, Galaxies, Star Clusters, Glowing Nebulas, & Comets.

The NexStar™ Telescopes by Celestron® are the latest in computer robotic control. Get ready to enjoy your stellar tour of the magnificent heavens with your own “Go-To” scope.

The NexStar ushers in a whole new generation of computer automated technology. Simple and friendly to use, the NexStar is up and running after locating two alignment stars. It’s the perfect combination of power and portability. If you are new to astronomy, you may wish to start off by using the NexStar's built-in Sky Tour feature, which commands the NexStar to find the most interesting objects in the sky and automatically slews to each one. Or if you are an experienced amateur, you will appreciate the comprehensive database of over 4,000, 18,000 or 40,000 objects (depending on model), including customized lists of all the best deep-sky objects, bright double stars and variable stars. No matter what level you are starting out at, the NexStar will unfold for you and your friends all the wonders of the Universe.

The NexStar has altazimuth operation (no need to polar align). Even if you can't find the location of two bright alignment stars, NexStar will find them for you. Just enter the date, time and your location, and the NexStar will align itself to the necessary stars.

To assist in the star alignment, the NexStar uses a lightweight Star Pointer Finderscope. The Star Pointer is the quickest and easiest way to point your telescope exactly to the desired object in the sky. It's like having a laser pointer that you can shine directly onto the night sky. No need to worry about the inverted images you see through traditional finders. Just align the red dot seen through the Star Pointer with the desired star in the sky. It's that easy. It is even easier with the GPS models.

With a touch of a button on NexStar's ergonomically designed hand control, you can select the object catalog, change the slew speed, view fascinating information about an object, or simply know if a desired object is visible in the sky.

The hand control includes a built-in RS-232 communication port allowing you to control the NexStar from a computer and use popular astronomy software (like The Sky®) for point-and-click slewing ability.

The NexStar’s deluxe features combine with Celestron’s optical system to give amateur astronomers one of the most sophisticated and easy to use telescopes available on the market today.

Warning: Never look at the sun without a proper solar filter.

Binoculars

Everyone should have a pair of binoculars whether you have a telescope or not. They are compact, easy to use on a moments notice, portable, handy to keep in your car. Binoculars are sized by the magnification or power and by the diameter of the front lens (objective lens). A 10x50 binocular has 10 power. This makes the image you view appear 10 times larger or 10 times closer. The 50 stands for 50 millimeters (about 2”) diameter objective lens. Large objective lenses gather more light making image brighter, clearer with more detail and are preferred for night use. Optical coatings improve image sharpness and contrast. Coatings vary from Coated, Fully Coated, Multicoated, to Fully Multicoated on the better models. Most models are adaptable to mounting on a tripod for a more steady view. Eye relief is how far back in millimeters you can look and still see the full field of view. Eyeglass wearers need long eye relief.

NexStar™ GPS

The culmination of years of engineering research and development delivering the ultimate instrument in Go-To technology and astro imaging. This large aperture telescope with carbon fiber tube is the first instrument of it’s kind to boast an integrated Global Positioning System and electronic compass, combined with the NexStar system, which makes this the most advanced telescope on the market.
It’s so advanced that as you turn it on, the integrated GPS and compass system automatically pinpoints your exact location and points to your first alignment star. No need to enter the date, time, longitude and latitude or even know the position of north.
Also new is the advanced Tour Function "search engine" that allows you to create your own customized Tours. This tour feature will search the database for any object above the horizon based on the users search criteria and generate a custom list of fascinating objects to view.

The NexStar GPS is the most advanced, easiest to use telescope ever designed by Celestron. It's the ultimate large aperture, portable telescope. Fastar compatible for wide field, fast imaging.

NexStar 5i & NexStar 8i New Hardware Features

Two Ports Conveniently Located On The Drive Base:
bullet

AutoGuide Port — Easy connection of AutoGuider for  astrophotography.

bullet

Auxiliary Port — Used for smart accessories like our optional CN16 GPS accessory.

Upgraded Optional Hand Control With New Software Features

Celestron’s  upgraded hand control, with a myriad of important new functions, is the next evolution of the most user-friendly, intuitive hand control in the industry.

bullet

GPS Align Compatible (with optional CN16 GPS accessory) — Plug the optional CN16 GPS accessory into the auxiliary port and the telescope automatically aligns with no data input necessary.

bullet

Auto North and Level Compatible (with optional CN16 GPS accessory) — Automatically finds north and level with more precision than can be done by hand, getting you closer to your alignment stars.

bullet

Hibernate — This power saving feature lets you power down the telescope without losing your alignment (input time if CN16 GPS accessory is not attached). Great for finding planets in the daytime or observing night after night without having to re-align.

bullet

Database Filter Limits — User-defined so that only objects visible above the horizon are displayed on the hand control.

bullet

Wedge Align Algorithm — Automatically aligns the telescope to the celestial pole. Essential when you are performing polar alignment on an Equatorial wedge.

bullet

Quick Align — An easy way to get an Alt/Az telescope tracking without actually aligning on two stars.

bullet

40,000 Object Database — A newly enlarged and expanded programmable user database.

bullet

User-Defined Slew Limits — Prevents the telescope from slewing beyond the user-defined horizon.

NEW NexStar Software. Now Our Beauties Come With More Brains

The beauty of Celestron’s NexStar GPS telescopes has always been their unique appearance characterized by their patented design, engineering innovations like patented AutoAlign, user-friendly intuitive software, and solid aluminum construction. We’ve made them even more attractive by upgrading the software with additional new features that are included with all Celestron NexStar GPS telescopes including our new 5i and 8i.

bullet

Compass Calibration — Allows you to point to true north more accurately, by compensating for magnetic north offset and local anomalies.

bullet

Polar Alignment Routine — Facilitates polar alignment for CCD imaging or conventional 35mm astrophotography.

bullet

EQ AutoAlign — Now the patented Auto Align is available even when the telescope is mounted on a wedge.

bullet

Database Filter Limits — Now available in Equatorial mode as well as Alt/Az.
