DC Compact Fluorescent Lamps
These Montana Lights use about 1/4 the electricity for the
same brightness of incandescent bulbs and last about 10 times longer. Instant
starting with no flicker. Standard screw base for easy replacement of power
hungry incandescent bulbs. The SE, DE and TE tubes have 4 pins not 2 pins and
are made for electronic ballasts. Bulbs rated 10,000 hour life, ballast rated
45,000 hours with normal usage. Life will be less when operated for short on time cycles.
|
|
Compact fluorescent
bulbs are about four times brighter than incandescent bulbs. These
lights screw into standard size sockets and must have the center tip wired
for positive (+) and the outside threaded part wired for negative (-). Use
large enough wire so the bulb will not have a voltage drop when starting or
bulb will have reduced life. 12
volt systems may require 10 gauge copper wire. |

Compact Light Ballast Base -
uses low cost replaceable bulb
Lamps are available with a one
piece bulb and base. These waste resources. When the bulb quits, you have
to throw away the whole thing - bulb and ballast. The units with a replaceable
bulb are more cost effective.
Efficient ballast is in base. Use in table lamps and other
lights with sockets. The center contact on ballast is positive. The SE tubes 5,
7, 9 and 13 all fit the same ballast base. Overall length: SE5 is 6-1/4”,
SE13 is 9”. The TE 13 or TE 18 tubes fit their
same ballast base. Base is 2” x 3-1/8”. Overall length: TE13
is 6-1/2”, TE18 is 6-3/4”. Made in USA by
Montana Light. Tube is not included,
see tubes below for ordering the size you need.

DC Incandescent Light Bulbs |
|
Fluorescent lights are 3-4 times more efficient than
incandescent lights, so use them in lights that are on the most. This will save
energy and you will have more energy available for other loads. Incandescent
lights are okay for infrequently or briefly used lights, such as closets or
hallways. Fluorescents used in this manor will have much less than normal 10,000
hour life. Incandescent bulbs (and LEDs) will never have RF noise that could
interfere with some radios.
Halogen bulbs
are about 30% brighter than standard bulbs and produce a whiter light. They can
explode if water splashes on the hot bulb or if they are operated on higher than
normal voltage. Operate within + or - 10% of rated voltage. Low voltage can
darken bulb.
|
|
Standard Bulbs Low cost with standard base. Not as efficient as Halogen
bulbs. About 30% brighter than 120 volt AC bulbs. Nice for seldom used lights or
short on time use. Packaged 4 to a box. Prices shown are per bulb. |
