Gas Refrigerators and Freezers
Refrigeration typically uses the most
electricity in an energy efficient home. Standard refrigerators use 3 kilowatt
hours or more per day. This much power would take about 750 watts of solar
modules in sunny locations and twice that amount for winter operation. Some
alternatives to buying extra solar modules just for refrigeration would be to
use a super efficient Sun Frost or a propane refrigerator. A Sun Frost may seem
expensive but it is cheaper than a regular refrigerator when you add the extra
cost of solar modules and batteries.
Propane refrigerators are freestanding
and finished for homes and cabins. The quiet motorless cooling is powered by a
tiny flame. Freezers maintain cold in hot weather. The Sun Frost is still
preferred over propane units because they do not need purchased fuel.
Truck shipping is about $100 to $400 in 48 states. Shipping to
a residence is about $50 more than to a business or freight terminal. Call for
shipping cost. Always inspect unit for shipping damage and note any on freight
bill.

8 cubic feet total with 1.6 cu. Ft. freezer. This is about
the same as 10 cu. ft. electric refrigerator. Has reversible door hinges,
adjustable and removable shelves, battery interior light, piezo spark lighter
for 1560 BTU burner and uses about 2.5 gallons of propane a week. These new
models have more inside space, more compact on outside and are much more
efficient. An AC electric backup is included but is not an efficient way to
operate. It use about 390 watts continuously. 63.5”x 23”W x 26.5”D. 195 lbs.

Crystal Cold Refrigerators

Crystal Cold are the largest and most efficient refrigerators available.
They have
reversible doors, deep door shelves, single large crisper, powder coated
shelves, casters for easy moving, front push button igniter, textured molded
steel cabinet. A 6 volt 6 watt refrigerator bulb is powered by 4 D cell
batteries mounted on the back. Gas hookup on refrigerators is on rear bottom
about 1/3 from the right side as you face the front of the unit. All models have the same powerful cooling unit with thermostat control.
Please allow at least
10-12 inches of clearance on top and 4-6 inches on the sides, so heat can be
properly vented. Level both the side to side and front to back when installing
for best operation and longevity. Operational efficiency requires 11.5 inches of
water column of supply pressure. 1 year
warranty, 3 year option from factory. Ships truck freight from Illinois.
